Inventors for Children

HABA is the ‘Inventor for Children’! We develop and produce innovative games and toys, unique products and accessories for the home that both children and adults find it hard to part with over the years, and that give them pleasure time and time again.
Every year we expand our product range with so many new innovations. In fact we staff 15 inventors (designers) to generate these new products and games. With their creativity and their vast experience these designers see our products through from the first sketch to the finished model. And what success they’ve had! Many of their products have already been awarded national and international prizes for their top-quality, child-oriented design, such as ‘Design Plus’ or the ‘German Wooden Toy Design Prize’. Our games have also won many awards in recent years, including the ‘Game of the Year’ award and the ‘German Games Prize’.

What makes a toy a good toy? Our products are not only attractively designed but children also find them fun to play with. That’s why HABA products keep the interest of generation after generation. Our quality and production standard ensures that our products remain timeless.
We are always on the look-out for new types of products and materials. We do however put a premium on materials that can be manufactured on an ecologically beneficial basis. We use primarily indigenous maple and beech wood and water-based paints for our toys. We also use fabric, felt, leather, cardboard and glass.
The vast majority of the designers’ ideas are put into practice in our own workshops. From the cut-out to assembly our products are manufactured at the Bad Rodach site, where our workforce of some 500 specialists produces our wooden toys and furniture.

Product Assortment:
In 1938 we started with colorfully polished building bricks. We still have these bricks in our product range to this day. But over the years our ‘factory for quality wooden toys’ has come up with a wider range of ideas for toys and for home products. And the same principle applies to all our products - the loving attention to detail makes our products heirloom quality.

• Our baby toys stimulate sensory perception and convey experiences commensurate with their age. With HABA, babies learn to comprehend the world through play. The other outstanding features of our baby toys are the design in both clear shapes and colors, and the superb workmanship.

• The HABA toy allows a great deal of scope for children’s imagination – and simply gives them pleasure. Apart from the genial design, what we feel is important is the ingenious combination of material and product. What is more - a lot of ideas come from the children themselves and are put to good use with the wealth of our experience.

• Children do not play to learn – but they learn from playing. HABA has some 200 games that help them develop in many areas, such as color theory, simple sums, speech development and fine motor manipulations. More than 850,000 units of our classic ‘Fruit Garden’ have been sold in Germany alone.

• ‘Attractive ideas for your very own style’ is the model of our jewelery. The modern materials go with the age - handmade glass beads, silver, wood and felt. Both big and small girls like these designs and materials.

• From bed linen to porcelain to rucksacks - HABA accessories add a touch of color to life. Because in the end joy shared is twice the joy, we also have no end of attractive ideas for gifts – from the sticky tape chicken to the golden donkey.

• Our lamps put childrens’ bedrooms in the right light – as glowing decoration or decorative lighting.

• HABA has been producing its own residential furniture since 1998 – furniture that children and adolescents grow up with. As they are made of Scandinavian birch, they remain timeless.

Quality and Safety
We place great demands on the quality and safety of our products, particularly on the careful selection and processing of the materials. That is why we constantly monitor the materials we use. Our toys comply with European Standard EN 71 ’Toy Safety’. And whenever necessary our products are checked by authorized, independent institutes to ensure their safety.
